Yesterday I took a well needed shopping trip to Nottingham to go on a serious bargain sales hunt. After receiving a fair amount of money for Christmas, which I am so grateful for, I decided it was about time I went a spent a bit of it.

The items I purchased were nearly all in the sales and I'm so happy with the things I have got so far and the money I have saved. I have to say, getting a fix+ spray from Mac for £10 definitely made me feel satisfied!

Christmas Day 2014

This Christmas turned out to be a rather relaxed one spent at home with family. The day consisted of tearing open presents during different times throughout the day and demolishing a glorious Christmas dinner- which I may add, had the BEST roast potatoes EVER! It was a lovely, chilled out day that I and the rest of my family very much enjoyed.

London: The Book of Mormon

This year, for my main birthday present, I was handed two fabulous tickets to watch The Book of Mormon in the West End. As my Dad's birthday is infact on the same day as mine I gave the other ticket to him. We spent a lovely day (Dad, Mum and I) wandering round Convent Garden and soaking up all the Christmas atmosphere. We then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cafe Rough- a personal favourite of mine.

After lunch we went along to the matinee performance of The Book of Mormon and, can I just say... OH MY GOLLY GOSH! The show was absolute genius. I had been familiar with the songs before as I went through a phase of constantly listening to the original cast recording EVERYDAY on the bus (that says a lot about me). But seeing the songs performed live was a whole new experience. A. J Holmes played the simple souled self of Elder Cunningham and, can I just say, is a comedy genius. His acting skills, along with the rest of the cast were absolutely superb and The Book of Mormon has definitely slid its way into my top three favourite musicals of all time. I really hope to see it again in the future and recommend it to anyone (16 and over) as it is hilarious, emotional and just a very fun show to watch! I honestly never wanted it to end.

Youth Music Theatre UK 2014: Soul Music

As previously mentioned in a blog post I uploaded a while back (see here) , I have recently been a part of Youth Music Theatre UK. In summer 2014 I went to Kingston- Upon- Thames to begin my rehearsals. 

Rehearsals were most days, for the first two weeks, and usually lasted from 9am until 9pm. The dance workouts in the morning started off as being a buzz kill for everyone but by the end of the three weeks everyone absolutely loved them! 

The set for the theatre looked incredible as it was constructed of modern items such as scaffolding and spray painted barrels.

I have to say the three weeks I was there taught me so much about theatre and about myself. I made so many amazing friends who I am still very much in contact with now and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again when the Youth Music Theatre reunion show happens in December!

Portugal

This half term my family and I took a well needed holiday to Portugal for 5 days. The holiday consisted of a lot of sunbathing by the pool and eating out in nice resturants. It was mainly just a relaxing holiday with a good bit of sun! 
The temperatures, reaching 25 degrees, were very pleasant and even thought the pool was rather chilly it was lovely to be in as it looked right out to sea!
I also enjoyed a few evenings chilling in the heated pool or getting a pedicure done in the lovely hotel spa.

Paris: Hothouse On Tour

My summer has planned out to be quite a hectic one: one that involves a lot of travelling, not much sleep and some amazing experiences. This week I went on tour with the band I'm in (Saxophonix- Hot House) to Paris.

On Monday we set off early and had a whole day of travelling in a mini bus and ferry which was really rather tiring! 

Tuesday's weather really wasn't the best as it was cloudy/rainy and my friend and I had only packed for sunny weather so we ended up being slightly chilly! However it did not ruin our day as we went up the Eiffel Tower and looked down on Paris which was beautiful! We also played a gig at Notre Dame which was really good and attracted a lot of people. In the evening we had an amazing time on the 'Paris at Night' segway tour which was so much fun. I've done segwaying before and enjoyed it even more than the first time! We then ordered some pizzas and went back to the hotel for a well deserved nights rest.

Wednesday's weather turned out to be much much better than Tuesday's which meant that the summer clothes we had packed weren't wasted after all! In the afternoon we went on a river boat tour of Paris which was really cool and then after some lunch (A NUTELLA CREPE *YUM!*) we went and played a gig at Parc Montsouris. Then later in the evening we went out for dinner at Montmartre which was very overpriced but it was overall a really good evening. We even got a caricature drawing done of all the members in the band! 

Thursday morning consisted of a gig at Jardins Du Luxembourg and it was, without a doubt, my favourite gig I have ever done with Saxophonix. We were in a massive band stand that had amazing acoustics, the audience was huge, we all played really well, the weather was gorgeous and it just had the best atmosphere and reminded me of how much I love and enjoy music.
Then on the Thursday afternoon we said goodbye to Paris and hello to 10 hours on a mini bus.

Paris was such a good experience and I can't wait to go again next year!

Fancy Dress Partaaay

Here are a few snaps from an end of year/ birthday party I went to last week. The theme was fancy dress and everyone made a massive effort. 3 of my friends and I went as High School Musical cheerleaders and there were also a huge variety of other costumes such as 118, Harry Potter, Wonder woman, Where's Wally, Cowboys and many more! It was such a good night and I'm so happy I have so many photos to remember it by.

Race For Life 2014

This Sunday I slipped on my running shoes and went and participated in the Cancer Research UK's Race For Life. For anyone that doesn't already know, the Race For Life is a huge event which takes place in many parts of England every single year. Thousands of people raise money for research to help beat all of 200 types of cancer. We are getting closer and closer every day to more and better cures for this horrifying disease and without the money and support from the public, the research would not be possible.

Altogether my Mum and I managed to raise just over £600 which feels like a massive achievement as our goal was around £300. I managed to run the 5K race in a respectable 27 minutes which I am very pleased with and I am so proud to have been part of race with such a good cause behind it!
